LaVerne "Vern" Henry Rasmussen, 93, of Frazee died July 18, 2024, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.
LaVerne was born May 24, 1931, to George and Olga (Vagle) Rasmussen in Strandquist, MN. He attended grade school in Strandquist and graduated from Karlstad High School in 1949. He furthered his education at University of Chicago where he earned an Associate's Degree in Business.
In 1951 LaVerne enlisted in the United States Airforce and served till 1956. He was a radio operator and gunner of B-29s during the Korean War and B-50s reconnaissance. For 33 years he was employed with IBM as a field manager and retired in 1991.
In 1955 Laverne married Beverly Olson, she died on July 4, 2002. On September 4, 2004, he married Sharon Ruth Thompson at Lake Eunice EFC.
LaVerne enjoyed helping at church in whatever way he could. He was a member of the Gideons International serving as the local Scripture Secretary and State Treasurer. He enjoyed being involved with the Amateur (Ham) Radio Club.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Beverly; parents, George and Olga; brothers, Glenn and Virgil; grandson, Michael Klinger and nephew, Erik Rasmussen.
LaVerne is survived by his wife, Sharon of Frazee; daughter, Mary (Ubaldo Diaz); sons, Jay (Cynthia) and Barry; sisters, Louann Grandstrand and Carol Gossenberger; brother, Allen Rasmussen; grandchildren; Matthew, Tamara, Sara, Tim, Justin, Amy and Elizabeth and great-grandchild, Makayla Mary.
